Heritage Project Project: As part of our study of holidays around the world, students will be researching their personal heritages and presenting a poster and report on the traditions of their cultures. If there are multiple cultures in the family, you may choose one to focus on. Students need to research their family’s cultural heritage and give a report on the traditions of that culture. A one-page paper, either handwritten or typed (in 14- or 16-point font) is needed to explain the culture and answering the research questions below. Students may use family interviews, library books, encyclopedia, websites, and/or magazines to find the necessary information. There are several websites you can use for research found on my teacher webpage. Cultural heritage will also be discussed and studied in class. This paper is due no later than Thursday, December 11th. A poster board is needed to display your project.
Questions to answer in your report:
What country or countries is your family originally from?
What generation of your family was the first to come to America?
What language is spoken in your country?
What holiday traditions are celebrated in this country? (This does not have to be a tradition that your family celebrates, just one that happens in that country.)
How are your family celebrations the same as those celebrated in this country? How are they different?
Include the following on your poster board:
Map of the country: Identify the general area where your ancestors are from on the map
Attach your paper doll which represents your ancestor’s culture. (What clothing they wear, etc.)
