TO OUR OKLAHOMA MILITARY WOMEN:

Each year the Department of Veterans Affairs sponsors Oklahoma Women Veterans Recognition Day and Governor Mary Fallin has proclaimed Saturday, 4 October 2014 as our special day. MajGen Rita Aragon, USAF, Retired, Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs of Oklahoma, will be welcoming all military women, past and present, to our celebration. Co-chairs for the program are SgtMaj Pam Bloustine, USMC, Retired, and MSG Phyllis Dorough-Barker, USA, Retired. The military women of Oklahoma have been gathering annually to renew old friendships and create new ones. Ladies, dig out your pearls & dog tags and come help us salute our 30th Anniversary and Oklahoma’s own women in the military.


REGISTRATION & SOCIAL HOUR BEGINS AT 8:30 am; PROGRAM BEGINS AT 9:30 am. We will offer free flu shots for our military women administered by VA nurses. Attire is civilian casual/military equivalent.
RESERVATION FORM: Complete the enclosed Reservation Form and mail to: Pam Bloustine, 2801 Redbud Lane, Edmond, OK 73025, OR, email Form to: PamOKWM@aol.com; TO BE RECEIVED BY 11 SEPTEMBER 2014; please put “RESERVATION FORM” in the ‘Subject’ line of your email. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED! A wonderful lunch is provided at no cost for our military women, past and present. Guests are welcome and will pay $15 at the door. Do not wait until the last minute! Send it in NOW!
SILENT AUCTION: Assists our funding to pay for the meals. Save your money, bid on fabulous items. If you have item(s) you would like to donate for the Silent Auction, contact Sonja Hatfield, 405-219-0531, or email sonjasmail73110@yahoo.com.
VENDOR TABLES: Will be set up around the perimeter of the room; always of interest to all. If your Organization would like to set up a table, contact Phyllis Dorough-Barker, 405-790-1235, or email padorough@cox.net. Vendors must ALSO complete the enclosed Reservation Form in addition to contacting Phyllis for a table!
FRIDAY NIGHT HOSPITALITY ROOM: At the Hotel, 6-9 pm, Friday, 3 October - All are invited! It's a great time to meet and spend time with our Guest Speakers before the formal Program on Saturday. The evening will be dedicated to our past Oklahoma Women Veterans of the Year; we will have their photos on display and many of these honored women will be in attendance! So come and join us Friday evening. You will also get a sneak preview and can begin bidding on Silent Auction items. Free, heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and an entertaining time for all!
HOTEL RESERVATIONS: We have negotiated a special discounted room rate of $83 per night for a single, 2 people=$109; 3 people=$119; 4 people=$129. RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY 11 SEPTEMBER to GUARANTEE your ROOM! If you plan to spend the night at the hotel, make your reservations NOW! PHOTOGRAPHY by TapSnap Phototainment with Raymond & Katherine Cox – For this very special anniversary year we will have a photo stand with different backdrops available on Saturday, 10 am-1 pm just for your special photo by TapSnap; just $5.00 per photo copy and take the photo with you! What fun ladies! Gather your group together. Be sure and check it out.

Each year we conduct a Memorial Service during the Program. We honor our sisters we have lost during the past year by reading their names. If you know of an Oklahoma woman veteran that has passed away since 26 October 2013, please list her name, branch of service, and any other pertinent information here:










Please help spread the word and make sure every woman veteran in our Great State of Oklahoma knows about this wonderful event. Remember, RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED! See you there!

OKLAHOMA WOMEN VETERANS RECOGNITION DAY

2014 PROGRAM ADS
To help defray expenses for our event, we are selling standard business card-size ads to be printed in the Program for only $25 each. All women veterans are encouraged to sell and/or purchase these ads as an easy way to help out.
We have two different types of ads available:

1. For Vendors/Advertisers who have a business card they would like printed in the program to let women veterans know of their services, or just want to show their support of veterans. Go to the locally owned businesses that you frequent, e.g., cleaners, liquor store, bakery and other services in your area and ask for their support and their business card. Veterans - male and female, can also have their personal/business card printed. Or just put in an ad to show support of our special day or in honor of a special service member or veteran.
2. For a Memorial whereby you may honor women veterans, family members, or friends. The memorial ad size will be approximately the size of a standard business card (3½” x 2”) or smaller and can be of any design. Samples are shown below:
