Religion and State-Minorities (RASM) Dataset Codebook Introduction
This codebook is intended to describe the codings produced by the religion and state minorities (RASM) project. RASM codes religious discrimination by governments against all 566 minorities in 175 countries which make a minimum population cut off.1 The dataset also includes all Christian minorities in Muslim countries and all Muslim minorities in Christian countries for a total of 595 minorities. The RASM dataset includes codings for 24 specific types of religious discrimination coded on a yearly basis for the 1990 to 2002 period which are applied to 595 minorities.
