Abstract
As conflict in the Middle East has risen, so has televised news coverage which previous research has shown to be negative in both valence and effect. This news coverage can have varying impacts on the public’s perceptions. Through an experimental study comparing U.S. college students exposed to negative coverage of the Middle East and those shown neutral coverage, I aim to discover the impact that the negative news coverage has on the American public’s perception of the Middle East.
