Music - Sound Arts Understanding Music - Sound Arts in Context
Students will:
·Level 3: identify and describe the characteristics of music associated with a range of sound environments, in relation to historical, social, and cultural contexts.
·Level 3: explore ideas about how music serves a variety of purposes and functions in their lives and in their communities.
Students will understand about Art Music, the Symphony Orchestra and Art Rock and how Music is used to mark special occassions such as the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The students will be able to play Ode to Joy as a solo and group on the keyboards which will involve using language, symbols, and texts, managing self, relating to others and participating and contributing.

Ongoing Assessment Approaches
Students will learn the notes C to G on the keyboard.
Students will learn how to perform as an ensemble.
Students will learn how to play the Ode to Joy.
Students will watch DVD's of the history of the Berlin Wall/ Pink Floyd and the Ode to Joy.
Students will learn about Art Music/ Art Rock and a Symphony (Orchestra)
Students can complete performance tasks and complete task sheets.
Summative Assessment
Students perform Ode to Joy as a solosi, as a group and complete the assesement task.
